There are 161 registered breeds of dog recognized by the American Kennel Club. While this list is rather long, there is alot of valuable information on each breed that may help you decide which breed would best suite your lifestyle. Adopting a pet can be a little scarry, so you will want to do some research before going to the shelter. It is very imortant to know what you are getting in to. Remember, it’s not the dog’s or cat’s fault that you weren’t ready to deal with the pet you chose. Please take a little time to familiarize yourself with the different characteristics of the breeds you may be interested in. Even the so called Mutts will carry some of the characteristics of both it’s parents.
